Merry Christmas!
It has been a while since I posted but I feel like I should. Not sure what to say though. My kids are home on Christmas break! Hurray! I don’t have to rush everyone out the door in the morning!!
Rylan and Ethan have been playing basketball on Saturday mornings. That has been fun for them! They are getting better and better every day!
We made a gingerbread house. I think I was more excited about it than the kids. They didn’t care much about decorating but it was a great excuse to eat candy!

On Christmas eve, we went sledding with some friends. I didn’t realize I was a snow snob until I discovered California “snow”. We had a map and had been assured that new snow fell but we were concerned because this is what we saw out the window…
However, we entered a canyon and managed to climb to 5000 feet. On the shady, east side of the road was a little snow, the other side was dry. We found a “ski resort.” It had 3 runs and man-made snow. I don’t even ski and here I am turning my nose up at faux snow…My apologies for such rudeness!!! :0)
We found our sledding hill. There wasn’t any frolicking in the snow. No snow angels, or snowball fights. It was pure ice. Snow that had melted and then froze again. It was great for sledding! Asher couldn’t take one step without crashing! We finally put him in a brown patch of dirt and he knew that if he moved from that spot, he would fall again!

The older kids had a blast! Rylan and Ethan even caught some air! It was so fun and I am so glad that we got to do it!
We came home and put on our Christmas pajamas, checked the Santa tracker to make sure he was still on his way, left him some cookies, and then went to bed.
Christmas Day was perfect! Since everyone in our house managed to make the Nice List, Santa brought us all a gift! Ethan received Pokemon cards. Rylan received a Power Ranger set, Raevyn received Princess clothes and Asher received a ball blowing toy. Everyone was so happy with their first gift that we had to force them to open the other gifts from family! It was satisfying to see them so happy with what they received. There’s nothing like giving the perfect gift! It was a really nice, relaxing day.
We talked with family on the phone. It was a little strange not spending the day with them. We miss you guys!!
We tried to emphasize what Christmas is all about to our children. Rylan came home from school one day and said, “Mom, everyone in my class believes in Santa except me. We believe in Jesus!”
I guess its working.
Sort of…
Happy New Year!!
Mae

Awww, cute. I LOVE the picture of Raevyn totally decked out in her Princess attire
And it looks like everyone enjoyed the loot! I love Rylan’s comment too. “We believe in Jesus!” That’s awesome.

I’m so glad you found snow- as pitiful as it was.
I love that you “believe in Jesus”! HA! Good boy. It’s hard to give Christmas the right emphasis once their in school. Good for you!
All my best in 2008, LOVE YOU!

Hi Millers!! I found your site by way of RaeLynn. It seems like forever that I have seen your family. Your kids are growing so fast. And it looks like you had a fun Christmas in CA, especially sledding on the ice! I saw the picture of all the grandkids that you all gave to Dorothy and Al, it looked great and they were very proud of it! Have a great new years….sorry it is late!
