Midwest Storms

Something we are all getting used to is the vibrance and energy in a midwest storm.  They sure are fun!

School has begun

Just a quick note, Raevyn has started kindergarten and now it is just Mae and Asher during the day (since in Nebraska, kindergarten goes all day).  She loved her first day.  In fact she was so annoyed with Ethan trying to get her to leave that she hollered at him and stormed out of the school crying because she had to leave.  So I guess it went OK.  As a side note, Ethan has accepted into a program at the Middle School called High Ability Learners (HAL) and he will spend a part of every Monday at the middle school during this year (4th grade) and next.  Of the 6 or so feeder elementary schools there are just a handful in the program, so we are very pleased with his efforts.  Way to go buddy!  And check out Rylan’s winning smile, that kid just has a spark.

A fun surprise at the Winter Quarters visitor center

While touring the Winter Quarters visitor center we came across a couple of quotes from my Great-Great-Great-Great-Great Grandpa Major Howard Egan. I don’t think the kids were as excited as I was.

Another house update

The blog has been dominated by our fixation on the home and it is probably indicative on how badly we want to move in.  To put it bluntly we are exhausted from all the decisions and can’t wait to stretch our legs a little bit.  But we are now about 25 or so days from moving in and it is really looking like a home more and more.  Here are a few more pictures.  The highlight is the paint and staining.  The cabinets in the kitchen are made from birch and we love how they look.  It will be interesting to see if they paint keeps its green tones when the carpet arrives.  Anyway, enjoy.

Actually doing something productive

We had a challenge for the hourly manufacturing operators, and they met the challenge. As a result I spent my lunch hour working on the line helping out. It drew quite the crowd as people came by to watch me get completely overwhelmed. It was a good experience and as you can see I am not sweating too bad!

Backyard buddies

We had a visitor on Monday.  She stuck around for a couple of hours and then we haven’t seen her since.
